Market downturn hits Doncaster.

Doncaster-based Modern Moves has been forced to close just 13 months since launch.

The closure follows Easyhome’s decision to merge with Moss Properties. The combined business is operating under the Moss Properties name.

Both follow the closure of Reeds Rains’ Doncaster sales office at the end of May.

Three members of staff at LSL-owned Reeds Rains were made redundant, while the remaining employee was relocated to another office.

The agency’s stock was transferred to the Doncaster office of Your Move, another LSL-owned company.

Anthony Kerrigan, South Yorkshire spokesman for the National Association of Estate Agents and partner at Kerrigans Property Sales and Lettings, says: "The Doncaster market is tough at the minute. The unfortunate thing is that every time I go to a valuation and try to price a property realistically, I’ve got three other agents still putting it on the market above market value – even in current times. They are hanging themselves and the rest of us."
